Example of a Godly Man
A few weeks ago I discovered the daily podcast from Greg Laurie and Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in California. I’ve been listening everyday at work and have greatly enjoyed it. He does a good job explaining concepts of the Bible, and he ends each service with an alter call, which I personally think more churches should do as we need to take every opportunity to spread the Gospel.
I bring this man to your attention now for two reasons. One, One week ago today Pastor Laurie’s oldest son was killed in a car accident near the church. He is survived by his parents, younger brother, his wife, their daughter, and another daughter on the way. I would ask for you to be in agreement with me in prayer for this family in this difficult time.
The second reason I bring this man up is because of the inspiration he has provided me just today. On the church website, http://www.harvest.org they have a link to a video of this week’s message. In it, Pastor Laurie talks about his son, what he meant to him, and his faith that he will see his son again in heaven.
I know this is what all Christians are called to believe, and perhaps that shouldn’t make his comments all that exceptional. But as I watched this video I was touched with his strength in time of tragedy, his display of manly emotion, as well as his trust in God. This is certainly a man to model ourselves after as dads, as ministers of the Gospel, and especially as men. All glory, praise and honor, to you are mighty King! Blessed be the name of the Lord!
